At Newell Machinery, safety plays an important part of everything we do. From the design of our drag conveyors to the safety training that our employees attend, safety is integrated into our operation.
It's our belief that informed employees promote safe work behavior which makes our jobsites safe. The focus of our training is to provide our employees the information that they need to perform their work safely.
Employees are trained in a variety of safety topics. Training methods include classroom, lecture, hands on, and practical application of subject matter.
In training, actual equipment is used to show employees how to recognize unsafe situations and to learn to use safety equipment properly.
Additionally, all safety training is followed by a written test to document the employee's knowledge and to determine training areas that need to be developed further.
Most training materials are created in house by our Company Safety Director. This gives Newell Machinery the ability to modify the training on an ongoing basis, and respond to the changing needs of our employees and our customers.
Newell Machinery also uses professional instructors in some areas including First Aid and CPR, scaffolding erection, and other subjects to provide employees with the most current information and a fresh perspective.
Ultimately, safety training at Newell Machinery is designed to give employees the knowledge to help make Newell Machinery jobsites the safest in the business. To evaluate our training efforts, on a periodic basis, Newell Machinery employees take an aptitude test covering a variety of subject matter to test the employee's general safety knowledge. The scores are compiled and the employee with the highest score is awarded a prize. The information gathered allows future training to address potential areas of confusion or to reinforce important points.
