Enmasse Drag Conveyors

Newell Machinery Enmasse Drag Conveyors are designed to convey moderately free-flowing products such as granular materials from an inlet source to a discharge point in a primarily straight and horizontal orientation.

Enmasse drag conveyors have a simple design with just one large internal chamber. Typically, the bottom two-thirds of the chamber carries the product, while the top third of the conveyor is the return chamber. The return chamber contains a return chain which is supported by a set of rails or idlers.

Within the conveyor's chamber, there is a chain with flights attached. The chain pulls the product through the conveyor. Unique to an enmasse conveyor, the flights (or paddles) are very small in comparison to the cross section of product that can be moved. The conveyor is able to carry product by creating a moving bed of product that conducts the product on top of it for the duration of the conveyor ride. (This technique is the same effect as if you set a weight on top of a rug, and pull the rug. The weight comes along with the rug.)

The enmasse drag conveyor design is highly cost efficient, as well as efficient at moving product in a horizontal direction. However, if the conveyor is installed at an incline, it begins to lose efficiency very quickly, especially when installation angles are greater than 10 degrees.

Straight, horizontal

A conveyor that begins as either as an enmasse or bulkflow conveyor and then changes to the other, usually through a curved section. View Example
Vapor or Liquid Tight
A conveyor designed to hold liquid or vapors without leaking.
